Awarded Renewal of Arizona Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) Contract

On March 20, 2013, Gordon Darby was awarded a seven-year renewal of the Arizona Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program (VEIP) by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ).

The Arizona network includes 18 stations and 64 test lanes in metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson and remains one of, if not the most, complex I/M programs in existence. Since being awarded the original contract in 1989 (with operations beginning in 1991) Gordon-Darby has conducted nearly 40 million inspections for the Arizona Program.

Gordon-Darby will continue to provide gasoline vehicle test procedures, including OBD; IM147, loaded and idle tailpipe testing; automated gas cap and vehicle pressure testing; and visual anti-tampering checks, in addition to diesel test procedures that include J1667 snap idle, lug down and loaded opacity testing; and visual anti-tampering checks. New program elements that will be implemented include conversion of lanes to accommodate Waiver/Referee Operations and additional OBD-only lanes.

We are extremely excited about this opportunity to continue our long-standing partnership with ADEQ in maintaining the superb quality of the Arizona VEIP.
