New Texas Information Management System (TIMS) Contract Awarded to Gordon Darby

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has awarded Gordon‑Darby a new 5-year contract to operate and manage the Texas Information Management System (TIMS) – the telecommunications network and centralized database system supporting the State of Texas Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance (I/M) program. The new contract will commence upon expiration of the current TIMS contract between Gordon‑Darby and TCEQ in September of 2021.

The TIMS contract includes a telecommunications network, central database system, and electronic data transmission with approximately 6,500 vehicle inspection Test Analyzer Systems (TAS units) located at about 5,700 inspection stations in four major metropolitan areas in Texas. Annual network volumes include approximately 22 million TAS-VID sessions corresponding to about 11.3 million vehicle inspections/year.

Bob Tefft, President of Gordon‑Darby, said, “We are thrilled and thankful for this opportunity to continue our successful partnership with the TCEQ that dates back to 2006. We also look forward to implementing several new features in the program to further enhance the day-to-day support we provide to the TCEQ.”
